Angie Lewin's Clover

Angie Lewin’s Clover fabric and wallpaper range for St Jude’s is inspired by her wood engraving of the same name, later reinterpreted as a larger-scale linocut. One of Angie’s most enduring designs, Clover combines the graphic simplicity of its repeating leaf motif with the natural rhythms of meadow plants and wildflowers.

Reflecting Angie’s long-standing fascination with the forms and structures found in nature, the design captures the distinctive character of clover leaves and flowers while retaining the bold visual qualities of the original print.

Angie explains:

"Thinking of clover and daisies dotted through a grassy field and the sound of bees evokes memories of warm summer days. The plant's unmistakable leaves and soft red and white petalled flowers, though small and insignificant, have a graphic quality when studied in detail, and I hope I've captured this in my latest fabric for St Jude's, developed from an original wood engraving of the same name."
