About this design
Ed explains the inspiration for his design:
"The geometric planting, terraces, avenues, rides (scenic walks) and follies in the Rococo Garden at Painswick were completed in the 1740s by Benjamin Hyett, son of Charles Hyett who began buiding his new house 'Buenos Aires' (good air) here as an escape from the smog of Gloucester. The linear structure and bold forms of the gardens inspired this textile. Four of the Painswick follies are depicted in vignettes - the Red House, the Exedra, Eagle House and Gothick Alcove - which sit among laurel branches and star bursts that reference the playful patterns of 18th century wall decoration."
