Tyger Tyger fabric

Colourway: Cobalt/Biscuit

Tyger Tyger by Mark Hearld was developed from a series of linocuts created during the lockdown period. Printed in cobalt and warm apricot on oyster linen, the design was inspired by an eighteenth-century needlepoint tiger said to have belonged to the circle of William Blake, together with the graphic figurative imagery found on American block-printed bandboxes from the Federal period. Hearld combined these influences with a fascination for eighteenth-century Provençal textiles, drawing upon traditional madder and indigo colour combinations to create the pattern’s distinctive palette. Retaining the character of the original print, the design forms part of the St Jude’s collection of artist-designed textiles.
